The current rain inundation has caused the shifting of soil in the vicinity of the Kalkie Water Treatment Plant (WTP) which has resulted in another break to the mains which supply the Hummock reservoirs. As a result, water supply to coastal townships between Burnett Heads and Elliott Heads MAY be affected.Basically, theĀ Kalkie plantĀ pumps treated water to the reservior(s) which then feed it into our reticulation system.
The Hummock capacity is currently at 50% so supply should be okay even if pressure at the tap is reduced a bit. Residents MAY not notice any difference to their normal supply but I thought that I’d issue a heads-up just in case. Council will be issuing a media release soon.
Council has redundancy equipment available and it’s anticipated that repairs and the removal of further risk to supply will be effected by 2.00pm.
I’ll post any further advices as they come to hand.
