ADVICE RE FINAL ROAD SEALS & LINE MARKING FROM TMR

The State Government’s Department of Transport & Main Roads has issued the following advice regarding possible traffic disruptions as they finalise some road repairs following the 2013 event. I thought that I’d post them here for general information…..

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is continuing reconstruction works from the 2013 flood event within the Bundaberg area.

From Monday 22 September, final sealing and linemarking works will be completed on various roads in the region, including:

• Goodwood Road, between Childers and Elliott River

• Moore Park Road, between Oakwood School Road and Murdochs Road

• Bundaberg-Miriam Vale Road (Rosedale Road), between Bundaberg-Gin Gin Road and Rosedale

• Bundaberg-GIn Gin Road, between Weir Road and River Terrace

• Bundaberg-Port Road (FE Walker Street), between Bundaberg Ring Road and the Bundaberg-Bargara Road intersection (turtle roundabout)

• The Cedars Road, between Isis Highway and the Burnett River Bridge

• Gin Gin-Mount Perry Road, between the Bruce Highway and Moolboolaman Road; and

• Kalpowar Road, about five kilometres west of the Bruce Highway.

The bitumen sealing will take up to two days at each site, with linemarking to be completed about one week after the sealing works have been finalised. The works will generally be undertaken between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday, and are expected to be completed in October 2014, weather permitting.

To undertake the works and to ensure the safety of motorists, traffic controllers, stop/go traffic control, pilot vehicles and speed restrictions will be used as required. While every effort will be made to minimise impacts, motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes and should factor in additional travel time to their journey or consider an alternate route. Your patience and cooperation is appreciated while these important works are underway.

Eligible reconstruction works under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) are funded 75% by the Australian Government and 25% from the Queensland Government.

For further information about the reconstruction works, please visit www.tmr.qld.gov.au (search for “Reconstructing Wide Bay Burnett”), contact TMR on 1300 728 390 (cost of a local call; higher call charges may apply from mobile phones or payphones) during business hours or email reconstruct_widebayburnett@tmr.qld.gov.au.
